The data to the results look funny. It shows some resemblance to to my hypothesis chart. Despite having 2 laps per round and taking the best time out of those two laps, I still had one bad round that really skewed the chart. If I were to remove the bad round, you can see the resemblance of my hypothesis starting to form.
If I were to do it again, I would decrease the amount of beer per round. I got drunk too quickly. I would also increase the waiting period between rounds to allow the alcohol to fully allowed to be absorbed into my body. I would also have a second person who isn't drinking play each round and compare that data with mine.
This guy started a blog while traveling through Europe. He would pick a place and a pop song and record a video of him doing an improvised dance to the song. I randomly came across this blog while surfing the interwebs. I love his taste in music and the dancing is simply mesmerizing. I hope he comes to Los Angeles one of these days. You can find the rest of the blog here: http://daveydanceblog.com.
Let's see how long this lasts, but I am trying to start up viral video friday again. The following is the trailer to Beatles Rock Band Edition done by the same guy who did all those bad ass Gorillaz music videos. For you XML / facebook subscribers you can click here. Straight up: I am pretty damn excited about this game.
One day I am cruising around on netflix streaming when I come across Avatar: The Last Airbender. I vaguely remember someone saying somewhere that maybe this show was somewhat decent. So under the premise of my foggy memory, I go ahead and add the first season to my queue. On a very lazy and un-eventful saturday, I casually watched a couple of episodes. Before you know it, I was torrenting the remaining two seasons. I would watch a 1/2 season pers a sitting. After finishing the whole series, I am ready to present my thoughts on this show.
Let's start off with the obvious, this is a kids show. There's no way around that. There is no gory deaths or anything to that sorts. They keep things on a PG rated scale. Even though this is true, the action sequences are intense as they are ever going to get for any PG rated anything. I was on the edge of my seat at the amazingness they were able to accomplish without any cartoon blood being spilled.
The writers of the show were able to create an immersive world that I was able to get sucked into the world that was created. The only fictional world I was able to get sucked into was the world of Harry Potter. I loved the little attention to details that the show took to accomplish this effect.
Throughout the wonderful journey, I fell in love with the characters. They were all relatable, unique and charismatic. Each character was given time to grow and become in a non-Rocky type of way. I don't know if this is weird or not, but the show was extremely funny when it had to be. Does that mean I have the sense of humor of a 9 year old boy?
The one huge gripe I had with the show was the dealing of the finale of the show. The show is a PG rated show and no one was killed or hurt or anything in the finale. I wanted a very similar good but dark ending that Harry Potter had. Nothing happened and I was left very unsatisfied with the finale.
If I had watched this show when I was 10, I would have eaten this shit up. I am not 10, and I still thoroughly enjoyed the show.
It's been awhile since I have updated the Austins-Web code base. One major thing that I did was switch over the code base to rails 2.2.2. This should allow me to use some of the newer feature of rails that I have been missing back when my code base was on rails 2.0.2 and also you guys the end user should have an overall quicker experience on this website.
I finally got around to fixing my portfolio and updating it with a few more recent project. Click on the portfolio button up on top to go over there.
For those that have been wanting to use search on the site have been greeting to a 500 page or also known as the "Austin you screwed up page". I re-enabled ferret search. So you can search to your hearts content.
All blackberry and windows mobile users can finally get a mobile version of Austins-Web directly to your handset. If you have one of these phone, you just have to go to Austins-Web.com to view the snazzy new version.
One more thing, I added a snazzy iphone version of the site. If you are on an iphone, simply go to austins-web.com to view the iphone version of the site. I built the site on my branch of tank-engine on github.
E3 crept up this year and let's just say I will be pretty damn excited when fall hits this year.
Modern Warfare 2. I got Call of Duty 4 and really enjoyed the campaign and multiplayer. This leads me to be most pretty damn excited to get this game with my friends and play some CO-OP.
Forza 3 is coming out this fall. I loved Forza 2 despite me not being awesome at it. I look forward to pimping out some rides and kicking some 12 year old's ass online.
Xbox's Natal seems like a very very interesting concept. Recognition of the face, voice, and everything. We will see if it works 1/2 as well as the trailers make it out to be.
Left 4 Dead2. I loved Left 4 Dead, it is a regular on our gaming night. There is nothing more that I love than co-op games and zombie killing. I must admit I was expecting more DLC for Left 4 Dead. In that respect, L4D2 better be damn well worth the $60 I will plunk down for the game.
The game I am absolutely most excited for is Rock Band 2: Beatles. If you have read through the blog I am a Beatles freak and this is a dream come true. I can't wait to harmonize and play the bass. Beatles here I come!
For those that don't know baseball is all about numbers, odds, and superstitions. For example, if a pitcher is pitching a no hitter no player will go up to that pitcher and talk about anything related to pitching. In fact you will find most players in the dugout steering clear of that pitcher as if he had the plague.
I take these superstitions very seriously. When I originally became a Dodger fan in high school, I bought a Dodger hat to commemorate me being true to the Dodger blue. After our crappy playoff performances of 2004 and 2006 I was convinced that the hat was extremely bad luck. So I threw the hat away. I bought a new hat, shortly there after. After not making the playoffs in 2007 I thought that the new hat was another bringer of bad luck. After some contemplation, I thought it be immature to throw the hat away just after one season. So I kept it to give it a try for one more season. In 2008, we made the playoffs and blew our way past the Cubs to my first NLCS.
Also during the 2008 season I picked up an authentic Dodgers hat and Jonny Broxton Jersey. I have managed to figure out the good luck charm with the authentic hat and jersey. Since the beginning of the 2008 regular season, I have been undefeated in every game I have attended. This includes every post season game I have attended (one game in 2004 and one game in 2008). I ONLY wear the authentic hat and jersey on games I go to and every playoff game the Dodgers play. The other hat I picked up in 2007 is my everyday Dodger hat.
There is also some good luck around those bobbleheads, I haven't figure it out yet though.
I woke up this morning and came across this article on gizmodo about a school who did a study about the effects of texting and driving using a wii.
I really do think this is a genius study. I have always wanted to do a study on my own about drinking and driving. I have always practiced safe drinking and driving techniques by never drinking and driving period. At the same time, my curiosity runs wild about how the effects of alcohol have on my driving skills personally. Let me clarify this curiosity I have. I have never had an yearning ever to get in a car after drinking to test out my curiosity.
Here is my proposition for said study. In the safety of my home, I will do a few rounds of playing a simulation driving game. I am thinking Forza 2. I will do a certain track and grab a best time for that track sans any alcohol in my blood system. Then I will have a drink and race a couple of times down the track and attempt to grab another time. I will increment my drinks and race down the track to grab times at each drink interval.
I may live ustream this event. I will keep everyone posted when I do this.
Just to clarify this post, I do not condone drinking and driving in any format. This experiment is done at the safety my home where the only people I injure are fake video game characters.
